MARINE insurance is the oldest extant category of insurance which traces its roots back to the ancient Mediterranean. This insurance covers the loss of or damage to ships, cargo, terminals, and any transport or cargo by which property is transferred, acquired, or held between the points of origin and final destination. This category of insurance includes Onshore and Offshore exposed property (e.g. container terminals, ports, oil platforms, pipelines), Hull, Marine Casualty, and Marine Liability. Cargo insurance, a sub-category of Marine insurance, is explained separately.
